Latvia - race 2, short uphill trail run.

Sigulda up cup Mountain run. Won category M30, but lost to M18-21(?) by 4 seconds. Time - 2:16, winner 2:12, third place 2:18. Uphill race. At the end of it felt tingling in hands. A rather crazy race.
I wonder what my heart rate was.

Latvia - race 1

I ran course six on Magnets race which is M21C (meaning men beginners - also 35B, 40B and 45, 5.9k, 12c). I did not have time to run longer course.
Race: messed up first CP, after that OK, but did not push hard. Came in first in M21C and second on course overall.
Route gadget. See course 6.

Good days and bad days

Another WIOL race and another mess-up.
1. From 7-8 started listening to Jourdan yelling at me and lost 2 minutes in the sprint part of map.
2. Just before 16 rolled/sprained my ankle.
Route gadget, Winsplits
Was close to being 5th.
Hadn't made the stupid mistake on 8, possibly could have caught Eric. Next time then.

Then there is was another administrative mess-up with my gopro. Somehow I decided to start it in picture taking regime. 4k pictures later..

Headcam O 1

2012 O-ringen, H-45. I think it is Thomas Johannesson. Pretty amazing speed.
Here is a map (I could not find the proper H45-1 map, so used one of E1 of 2012 O-ringen that I could find and drew on top):

In other news, got 3rd in WIOL race this weekend with 2 large mistakes of 2 and 1 minutes or so. Both top places were reachable. Jourdan had similar issues.

King county has new LIDAR data

New data

Since last year September or so I have been waiting for the new LIDAR data from King county. Wait is over, data is here and IT IS GREAT!

Old data

Old data was acquired around 2001-2005 and was pretty bad, Some pieces were acquired later, which made them better, but in general it was so bad, that I wrote an article on how I tried to extract goodness out of it (and failed...).

New data

It is not the absolutely greatest data in the dark forests of PNW, but it certainly is much better.

Comparison

In this picture, contours from old LIDAR data are in green; brown is the new ones: see how the ridge on the left center just disappears?

But what does it mean?

Well, if someone is into map making, then the new data is a must for all potential projects.
Forest runs is planning on updating the following old maps: Tiger Mt N downhill , Houghton transfer station of HBOC; Will Enger's Kirkland watershed, if we get hands on it. And add nice contours on the new map of middle Tiger Mt.
